Mental Health & Safety
Student mental health is a growing and urgent priority. Academic pressure, social stress, and a dynamic always-on environment are directly impacting our students’ and the community’s well-being. I will ensure our schools share information and work collaboratively with the city and the broader community. By coordinating effectively we can offer our students, their families, teachers and staff the best possible services.
Practical Technology
Our schools face a dual challenge: educate our children on how to use technology effectively and responsibly while also using technology to improve how we teach. I believe our district’s approach to new technology in the classroom should be grounded in real results, not trends or hype, and focus on measureable and comprehensive student experiences & outcomes.
Comprehensive Academic Excellence
Palo Alto schools have it all: an extraordinary student body, engaged parents, and caring and skilled educators. Our district is well-positioned to deliver an exceptional K-12 education experience in and out of school regardless of a student’s capabilities, interests or challenges. I will focus on continuously improving all student and family experiences and outcomes in practical, measurable ways.
Transparent & Collaborative Leadership
The PAUSD Board must deliver strong outcomes for students and their families. This requires rebuilding and maintaining trust through transparency, collaboration and real oversight of our schools internally and externally. I will decentralize administrative power, apply checks and balances and create direct channels to the board for feedback. Our district can improve performance and make better policy decisions while at the same time improving public trust.
